When a distributor is trying to fill an inventory gap or respond to an active customer order, quote speed matters. But the fastest supply partner still needs enough information to check the correct material. A stainless seamless pipe RFQ that arrives with missing dimensions, grade, quantity, or delivery requirements usually creates another round of questions before availability can be confirmed.

- Grade
State the exact grade requested, such as 304/304L or 316/316L. If the customer permits alternatives or dual-certified material, note that separately rather than leaving the grade open to interpretation.
- Nominal Pipe Size (NPS)
Provide the NPS exactly as shown on the customer inquiry. Do not rely on a general OD description when the order is being quoted as pipe.
- Schedule or Wall Thickness

- Manufacturing Route
If the customer specifically requires seamless pipe, keep “seamless” in the RFQ. This prevents a supply search from drifting toward a different product route that may not meet the customer’s requirement.
- Specification and Documentation

- Quantity and Length
State the number of pieces, total footage, or other purchasing quantity, along with the required lengths. For inventory replenishment, it also helps to indicate whether the requirement is immediate or part of an ongoing stocking need.

Tell the supplier when the material is actually needed. “ASAP” is less useful than a specific requested ship or delivery date, especially when a distributor is comparing stock, transfer, or sourcing options.
- Delivery Location
